Our Safety Precautions
The health and safety of our families, staff, and community is one of our top priorities and we are closely following all the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) guidelines and recommendations throughout this public health emergency. Below is an overview of the extra precautions we are taking to keep our Alpha-Bet Preschool family safe.
-
Mask Policy
We encouraged families to make choices about masking that best meet the needs of their child(ren). If you feel comfortable with your child continuing to wear a mask, we completely understand and respect this decision and we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that it is worn properly while in the building.
-
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
While we are allow parents into the building during drop-off and pick-up, we ask that families practice social distancing. Please look for signage to maintain your distance during drop-off and pick-up.
-
Temperature Checks
All staff & cooperative volunteers will be asked to take their own temperature upon arrival and must be fever-free to work. Staff will also check each child’s temperature during drop-off.
-
Health Screenings
Parents and staff will answer some health screening questions at drop-off and the health of both staff and children will be monitored throughout the day. If a child becomes unwell throughout the day, parents will be notified immediately, to help stop the spread of illness, the child will be moved to a designated “sick space” until a family member can come to pick them up.
As always, we ask that families keep children at home if they display any signs of illness, closely monitor their health and contact a physician if the child shows signs of COVID-19. In most cases children must be symptom-free (without medication) for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
-
Cleanliness
We have increased our existing cleanliness practices and will more frequently disinfect (and rotate) classroom toys, materials, and high-touch surfaces.
-
Hand washing and sanitizing
Children and staff will wash and/or sanitize their hands upon arrival (and many times throughout the day). Hand sanitizer will also be available within the classroom and throughout the school.
-
Social Distancing within the Classroom
We will continue to practice social distancing as much as possible within the classroom by spacing children out during group times and limiting the number of children in each center.
